BEGi is built on the premise that to provide the customer with the best performance products you must begin with solid engineering. For 32 years this company has always been run by engineers. Product design at BEGi is dictated by degreed mechanical engineers with a keen understanding of the limitations and possibilities of the materials and hardware. They also happen to be serious car folks.
When you're looking for the best performing, most reliable performance options for your vehicle you can trust BEGi to deliver quality and top level performance. Whether it is for the street or the track BEGi will give you the performance advantage you are looking for with the assurance that you have our engineers standing behind you. Our performance solutions have the depth of maturity in the designs, excellent craftsmanship during creation of parts, the engineering quality, and the considerable depth of experience in turbo applications to make BEGi your performance source.
Experience & Background
BEGi's Chief Engineer, Corky Bell, has 33 years of experience with forced induction design. Corky has earned an engineering degree from Texas A&M, and authored two books on forced induction "Maximum Boost" and "Supercharged". Bell has designed over 90 forced induction systems, of which over 20 are currently in production.
BEGi has enjoyed an excellent relationship with the automotive media. BEGi and it's product line, Cartech Racing Products, have been featured in over 120 magazine articles in the past twenty years. Writers and road testers have repeatedly commented favorably about our engineering capability and the craftsmanship of the components.
A Few Words From BEGi Founder Corky Bell
To give you a better understanding of the level of commitment that goes into all of our products, our chief engineer and founder, Corky Bell, has contributed a few thoughts on our speciality, forced induction system design.
The design and development of forced induction systems is rather a specific engineering exercise. That specific exercise is a long way short of the science requirement to put a lander on Mars. However, the engineering background and experience of the design office is a critical factor toward producing a trouble free and powerful forced induction system.
BEGi is perhaps the only company offering engineered systems both turbocharger and supercharger systems. There are always functional circumstances which favor one method over the other, yet the choice is seldom absolutely clear cut.
The choice can be further complicated by the selection of the specific blower type and make regardless of whether it's a turbo or a supercharger. For example, when maximum power is the most important consideration, the turbo is virtually always the best choice, with the centrifugal blower second.
When cost is the prime consideration, the turbo or the centrifugal blower will stand out as strong candidates. Sometimes one selects a mechanism based on rules, for example the Roots in top fuel racing.
It is our responsibility to sort through the engineering confusion and marketing circumstances and select the best tool for the specific job. That's just one of the areas where the background and experience factors allow BEGi to create the BEST forced induction hardware available today.
The greatest effort is spent determining the equipment needed to maintain a tolerant air charge temperature level through the engine. This is of supreme importance as it is heat in the intake air charge that causes engine knock (i.e.. ping, detonation). Every item that gathers or expels heat must be examined for efficiency. As an example, the blower makes heat, intercoolers expel heat, compression ratios raise heat, and fuel quantity expels heat. This one specific design point is discussed to indicate the thoroughness with which our systems are engineered. All other area, such as fuel controls, and component durability, receive similar attention until all design facets are in proper order. Engineering is the key element to performance and safety.
Thanks and enjoy our efforts.
Corky Bell, BSME
Meet the Staff
Stephanie Turner - Sales / Tech Support / Tuning / Office Manager. Until 2004 Stephanie was ignorant of cars, engines, and how they worked. Due to excellent teachers, she can tell you how to install something, and how to tune it. Stephanie's favorite hobby is gymnastics. She enjoys coaching competitive gymnastics.
Justin Booth - Shop Manager & Welder. Justin joined BEGI in April of 2007. He is a full time welder who joined the Army reserves in June of 2009. He is back from a deployment in Afghanistan. Justin's favorite hobby is working out and tinkering on his Mustang.
Pam Smith - Shipping Manager. Pam joined BEGI in January of 2012 after moving back to the mainland from Puerto Rico. Her favorite hobby is exploring South Texas and all it has to offer. Pam loves the Texas Wildflowers.
Zac Williams - Installer / Fabricator. Zac joined BEGI in February of 2013 after purchasing some parts from us! He is on his third Miata and currently owns a MSM. So far his only hobby is fixing the used BMW Z3 he just purchased.
Jeffrey White - Installer / Fabricator. Jeff joined BEGI in April of 2012 while in high school. Jeff is heading up our Nissan efforts and works on special projects. Jeff is currently attending UTSA for an engineering degree. He fixes his 300ZX in his spare time.
Justin Miles - Machinist. Justin joined BEGI in May of 2013. He is learning all the ins and outs of the mill and lathe. He is picking it up real quick! He drives a Chevy truck, but we try not to harass him too much about it.
