With regard to cooling of a fluid in a tube with an ambient air flow, it is well known that the tube length establishes the temperature drop of the coolant. Clearly the total frontal area of the radiator is also a key to the total heat exchange. With the BEGi cross flow radiator series, both these attributes are used to dramatically increase the heat transfer of the radiator to the atmosphere. With the change of tube length to 23 inches instead of the common 16, approximately 6% more heat will be transferred to the atmosphere from that feature alone. That amounts to about 12F on the water temp of 200F. The second merit of the cross flow radiator is the frontal area of the core. With the smaller end tanks inherent in the cross flow style cooler, the frontal are gains approximately 12%. That amounts to 24F out of 200. It is not too hard to establish the long tube, greater frontal area radiator as the logical choice for competitive efforts, or serious street performance. This radiator features a 38 mm / 1.5" thick core. The radiator is also 100% aluminum. All radiators are equipped with anchors compatible with stock brackets. All radiators include an aluminum tube and hose clamps, for the upper and lower radiator hoses. Stock fans can be used with this radiator. This radiator is designed for all 1999-2005 Miatas, not MazdaSpeed Miatas. |
